VOTE Laura Ayala-Gonzalez

 MARCH 17, 2020

for Cook County Circuit Court Judge

(Ford Vacancy)

“Becoming a Judge has been my dream ever since I began working as a law clerk in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office over 18 years ago.  Public service and justice are my passions.  Reflecting on the values my immigrant single mother and grandparents raised me with, I chose to be an advocate for justice. I feel that my legal and life experiences have equipped me with the skills and knowledge to become an extraordinary judge serving the people.”

  • As a co-leader of the Hispanic Employee Resource Group of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, I spearhead immigration and domestic violence initiatives.

  • Co-hosted the first fundraiser in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office (CCSAO)for victims of natural disasters in Puerto Rico and Mexico.

  • Organized a group of bi-lingual ASA’s to participate in leading panel discussions with the members of Mujeres Latinas en Accion to address issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, and immigration issues in the community.

  • Spearheaded the first CCSAO Immigration & DACA initiative to assist in filling out naturalization and DACA renewal applications.

  • Partnered with Women Everywhere (WE) and led the first CCSAO & WE service project with the help of 12 fellow ASA’s at the Hephzibah Children’s Association in Oak Park where we organized school supplies for over 200 children in the foster care and intact families program.

  • Serve as a mentor to high school, college, and law school students.

  • Serve the Diversity Scholarship Foundation (DSF) in assisting diverse and deserving law students in acquiring financial aid across our state.

  • Serve the Women Everywhere committee dedicated to creating opportunities for women and children in need through education and community service.
